Maya Ixil: World-class coffee without intermediaries

The Challenge: Small coffee producers often lose their profits to intermediaries who roast the beans abroad. The Solution: Francisco Córdoba led the Maya Ixil Cooperative to take a bold step: exporting organic, roasted, and ground coffee directly from Guatemala. Philanthropic Impact: Together with Francisco, we developed a marketing strategy that included a new logo and the use of storytelling on the packaging to connect the producer with the end customer. Today: The cooperative exceeded its annual sales goals in record time and is now establishing direct partnerships with customers in North America, benefiting more than 223 families.
